Slow Motion Landscape: Todd Ford Completes Live Paint
"Slow Motion Landscape" seems to be an appropriate title for a piece that took contemporary painter Todd Ford sooooo long to complete! For those of you who attended the LIVE Paint and Solo Exhibition of Todd Ford at Lovetts Gallery on 4/2/11, this is the piece that Todd worked on throughout the day, in-between questions, sweating, sales, photos, costume changes, and explanations. As you may have experienced, it is quite a unique happening to be a part of a piece of art while it is being created - a certain involvement/ownership. Although the piece has yet to arrive at the gallery, as it is still drying at Todd's studio in Texas, Lovetts is making the piece available now, due to the intense interest in the piece during production.
Furthermore, we would like to thank Todd Ford (and his wife) for making the trip to Tulsa to work live with Lovetts. Todd, in addition to being a fine painter who continually challenges himself, is a great person to spend time with. Despite what one might assume from his seemingly meek personality, Todd is quite a character (interviewing with no pants...just sayin'). Being a painter, husband, father of three, and a high school teacher make for some interesting conversation! We were also very pleased with the attendance to this event. Thank you, Tulsa, for showing your support of Todd Ford and for Lovetts Gallery by not only attending, but by also collecting his works. By investing in Todd's work and life you have either taken your first steps to creating a one-of-a-kind collection, reflecting your individualism, or you have added to your collection an artist who will serve as a snapshot of where both you and the artist were at at a particular place and time. Either way, we thank you.
As promised, we will have both a time-lapse video of Todd's progress on "Slow Motion Landscape" and a great interview, which we conducted at the conclusion of the event. Both of these will be available in the next week or so and will be posted here and on Todd Ford's artist page at LovettsGallery.com.
